"While routine care is a responsibility of the Hospice organization...there are many other hours in a day.  The funds were utilized for these families to aide the caregivers and patients with additional care. As you are aware, patients as they progress at the end of life need full care."

~Nancy

We were able to use some of the funds to help build a special ramp for a patient that wanted to spend time outdoors in his final days, and the family simply could not get him into and out of the house without the ramp, nor could they afford the handy man and supplies to put it in place.

"I am so grateful for the respite care grant I received! I was able to have a much-needed respite and enjoy my birthday with my husband.

I didn't have to worry about leaving my mother who has dementia.

I knew she was in good hands with a caring and responsible nurse's aide whom we were able to meet before our night out."

"A Gift of Time"

"Some families have just needed time alone and took a few hours.  Others had some wonderful longer experiences that would not have been possible without this gift.  One woman was able to go to New York for granddaughter’s  1st Holy Communion...

"Just last month we gave a longer than usual Gift of Time for a patient.  His wife was very grateful for this care as it allowed her to get out for her own medical procedure.  She wanted us to be sure to thank you and your family."

~ Victoria

We paid a private Homecare and Companion company for additional services so that the family members could rest, take a night off, sleep while knowing their loved one was being supervised safely.
